JTD gearbox removal & clutch job

Howye all..

We managed to get the gearbox out of my brothers JTD bravo, but by god it didnt want to come out. The thin metal cage on the release bearing that holds it together had disintegrated, and the bearing then went off center and made ****e of the clutch fingers - hence the squealing. But how to get it back in ?. We slightly dropped and wedged the subframe down to give more room, but its not going to be enough to get it back in. What is the best way of doing it ? Can the subframe be dropped from the body altogether without pulling the whole car to bits, and should the engine be dropped as well ? Any help is appreciated..

Owen, they unscrewed my axels out and droped the whole gearbox on the floor. Its not possible to mout it back when the gearbox is on the car - so they say

I guess we will have to look at dropping the whole lot to get it back in..
