Well i got mine done at a steal for 200 inc clutch but the guy was regretting it me thinks.

Think the quotes went from 350 at fiat dealer to 500 at a specialist. All others in between.

Stu

£200 sounds amazing!!!

Well I've been quoted £400 including the clutch.. or £300 excluding.

Just waiting on the clutch :)

Valeo clutch too.

Shame im in newcastle, could have pointed you in the right direction Tommy!

Tommy says cheers for the prices, now how about some locations ;)

Im up North near Manchester so doubt he'll travel up here for a new clutch, its also a 8hr job so more than likely it may need collecting the next day. He's better off finding a garage locally.

Yeah may not be long, but 8hrs can lead to 9 hrs and garages wont stay open longer that they should, So they will say come back tomorrow. It does happen plus garages have other cars in at the same time, perhaps doing MOTs etc.

You may also find if you buy the clutch seperately and get a garage to fit it, they will offer you no warranty. Best bet is to get a garage to buy and fit it all for you, i know this is a huge job which requires removal of the sub frame, battery, driveshafts, gearbox etc, alot can go pear shaped if done incorrectly and therefore making warranty essential. Aswell as being on a remapped JTD.

Getting an original valeo clutch myself compared to my garage getting it, the difference was £20 more expensive. Which i was happy to pay afterall it is for 2 years warranty.

it can be done without removing the subframe but not easily

tommy have you tried fiat in nuneaton? they were very reasonable for your cam belt.

i would offer to come up and help you do it one weekend but im half way through helping andy rebuild patches engine at the min.

shurely ur dad can do it he got the 1.8 engine out pretty easy the jtd isnt that much more difficult.

oh I can do it myself... cheers for the offer Ash.

I live opposite a Lancia/ Fiat/ Land Rover ect. ect. Machanic... who has a friend with a workshop and ramp.... I just don't like doing engine/ Gearbox stuff... like cambelt changes.. I'd sooner pay cos if it goes wrong I have come back :)

But I was just trying to find out how much it would cost if they haven't got time & how much I should pay them for doing the job.

So... about £300 for fitting then???

I paid approx £25 an hour. Its an 8 hour job on the books, therefore labour was £200. Clutch was £150 from the garage. Shop4parts had it at £100 + VAT & Delivery at the time but i wanted warranty with mine.

Total £350.

Clutch replacement in Leeds

Hi Guys,

Just had mine done for 391 inc vat at CG Motorsport in Leeds. (JTD)

Seems a lot better than before - didnt realise how stiff the old one had got!

Just a heads up if anyone needs one doing in the area.

Yeah, it seemed fine until the gearstick came away from the gearbox on sunday! Turns out the gear cable is damaged... my local garage thinks by the people who fitted the clutch! I would steer clear if i were you. Paul

bummer!!

Well it's still fine.. just a slight judder still wen u boot it in 5th..

Think i'll just ignor it a bit longer ;)
