Hi all,
I have just bought a Marea JTD SX Estate 2000 , nice car!
However the glowplug coil symbol has started flashing, any ideas what the problem might be?
Also what's the best workshop manual to get?
regards
Tom

How long does the flashing last? Be accurate. It means there is some kind of fault with the post/pre heat system.

There is no workshop manual for the Marea. There are some shared parts between it and the Bravo/a (suspension & brakes etc) but the Haynes manuals don't cover diesel engines.

Hi,
I count 30 flashes.
regards
Tom

Hi,
Yes, it starts fine.
Suppose I will leave it alone until it stops!
Thanks for your help.

Problem with the post heat circuit. Possibly a fauly glow plug or relay. Does it start every time without problem?

Mine does exactly the same. Not had a problem with it since I bought it in Jan.

I have the same problem with my 1.9 TD100 Weekend. According to my garage, it means one or more of the glowplugs needs to be replaced... but it won't be a problem until the weather turns cold later in the year. My car certainly starts no probrem at the moment and the flashing coil light stops eventually!!

I was quite happily staring from cold in the snow earlier this year. Didn't sound like a glow plug was completly gone - might just have gone higher resistance.

I had the flashing on mine a few months back. I bought a couple of glowplugs and took a look at it. They get progressivly harder to change, starting near the drivers wing is easy, working up to just about impossible on the passenger side.

Removed the first glowplug, tested it with a multimeter, it was ok, so put it back. Second one, ok, put it back. Tried the third one for a half hour or so and gave up.

The light went off and has been off ever since. maybe a bad connection, but all seemed good.
