Cold mornings and de-icing.

Who's using spray, who fires up engines and - like my neighbour - who's brave enough to try thawing their cars with hot water of a morning?

Sat watching that last option with interest yesterday morning! :fie:

if i have time warm enginde with windscreen fan on.
if not spray
if i really cant be arsed water. dad uses full boiled kettle his entire life. never done any harm.

spray for me, scraping the window in my street at 6am Monday morning is like dragging nails down a black board! Firing up the car parked against the garage door also wakes everyone up as the street is that quiet and the cinq is that noisy

theres no harm in warm water from the hot tap. not boiling just somewhere above lukewarm is fine.

i start engine up first though to get things warmed up before driving :)

lol, warm water on a propper cold day just freexes over again. the windscreens are laminated toughened glass so boiling water will only ever crack/damage the window if there is already a crack there. otherwise your fine. same with rear window but i wouldnt recomment side windows lol.

I run the engine with the heaters on to clear the frost/condensation resorting to scraping only if I have to. Incidentally, does anyone else running a GP have big problems with condensation? On Monday the frost cleared before the condensation did and I almost resorted to hanging out the window to see as I was running late (again)

I switch the engine on, heaters full blast and scrape the windows I need to. Usually in a rush in the morning so don't have time to boil a kettle  I also find that the sprays leave a bit of a residue, but maybe that's just the cheapo Halfords stuff I've got in the cupboard.

I had problems with the tangerine but it was mainly due to the amount of snow on the roof from last year!

Just waiting for these days to return lol...
