looks like a ford ka in italian clothes. should be a good looking motor though
It looks fugly, and those mirrors are rank. Thank god it's just a prototype.

Is it? thats a shame, i really really hate ford and what they stand for, sharing a chassis, god what a shame I dont like the mirrors on the trepiunos but on the Grande punto i think they're just OK, suit the shape a liitle more but they arent what id have. i saw the new 500 ages ago on men and motors on some kind of show, maybe frankfurt, and it was a realy tidy, well lined little car, thats just a disaster if thats anything like whats to be built I would've quite happily had the 500 i saw on men and motors

I don't get why you're against it being based on the Ford Ka chassis... Many people have said the Ka is an awesome handling car for what it is, which can only mean good things for the Trepiuno

The newer ones yes, they're fine chassis's but after my uncle knowing alot of the ford exexcutives for making the proto type cars in america (texflo machine inc contracted from canada) he knows they're a bunch of tossers that ed up saying well we can cut this corner, and that, we'll savea ton, pass e.u. laws in europe and make a massive profit. I have said before they're cars are not as bad as they were and that is becuase primarily (even they have stated this) that they buy out car companies and their copyrights/patents to use their cars ideas. GM has just had renault take a stake in them so they can remain the biggest car manufacturer instead of toyota going that way. Ford and toyota have been in talks to form a parntership that would over-rule this. Basically i only hate fords becuase i stil work on tehm everyday im at my dads and i KNOW they're ****e, nowadays they rnt as bad yes, but patching up a 3 yr old chassis on a ford ka isnt my idea of fun, even if they are a good handling car. Rant over

The new 500 will be a joint effort between Ford and Fiat. The Fiat will not be based on the Ford chassis, and likewise the Ford will not be based on the Fiat chassis - because they are being developed at the same time. The finished car will look much like the concept shown a couple of years ago. Any comment on the look of the car shown in the picture above is entirely pointless for the very obvious reason that it is clad in several inches of black plastic.
They will both be built at the Fiat plant in Poland, which currently churns out the Panda and the ancient Seicento for poverty stricken Eastern European peasants. The new 500 will replace the Seicento which is likely to continue in some markets for a couple more years.
