It's a mk2 turbo lump, possibly also a Punto GT lump. You can tell by the shape of the plenum chamber ;)

Also if the engine capacity is definitely 1.4 (1372cc?) then it won't be a mk1 as those were only ever available as 1299/ 1301cc capacities.

Edit: You do know you'll also need the turbo wiring loom and ECU's along with intercooler/ gearbox/ driveshafts etc? Not to mention brakes!

nice one(y)

cheers

the guy with the engine says he doesn't know if it is the 1.4 engine but he said would the engine number tell him?

does anyone know how to tell, and would the engine number let him know?

its not really the done thing fitting the mk2 head to a mk1 lump. more people would just fit the mk1 lump, so i very much doubt it is a "hybrid" engine

as for being able to tell the difference, from those pics u can see a few "uno only" bits that were replaced when the lump was fitted to the pgt. little clips, brackets etc :)

Cheers Dunc! I've just increased your 'thanks' rating by 33.3% as well for supplying that useful info. ;)

I wasn't thinking that the whole 1.4 head may be transplanted to a 1.3 lump, more just the 1.4 plenum chamber. I can't see why anyone would do this (or even if i would bolt of up to the 1.3 head), but if they did it may cause confusion when trying to identify an engine. Anyhow, I digress!

Daleyboy10, don't forget that you're bidding on just the bare engine. You need a lot of other parts as well to make the engine run!

hehe, cheers :D

also, another quick way to tell is the oil cap. On the uno engines its a square and on PGTs its a round cap ;)

ahhh, i see what ur saying about the plenum now. tbh, i dont think they are interchangable, in fact im 90% sure theyre not!

i do know it will need a lot more,
it is just an option for me at the minute to get this to work on it.
as the engines and gearboxes are hard to come by.
but as i sed its a strong possibility to get this engine but if i decide not too ill have to keep my eyes peeled for the whole engines as complete.

which ill have to save my pennies for that, but if it makes life easier i may have to wait.

The inlet manifolds are interchangeable.

Even without the inlet that engine it is quite easy to tell its a 1372 Uno turbo motor.
