General Is there 1.6 16v VFD coupe out there??

And no-one on here (which includes people who've had Coupes for years, and know rather a lot about them), or on the Coupe forum, or on Wikipedia, or in Fiat's Coupe technical guide knows anything about them?
Sounds more like you're desperate for there to be a 1.6 or 1.4 Coupe.

If you can find one, I will buy a hat and eat it.

I was just suggesting that it wasnt impossible that fiat had put their existing 1.4 turbo setup into a coupe, in response to someone saying it was impossible because they had assumed that fiat would have had to design a 20v head.

There was a misprint in one of the early coupe sales brochures that mentioned a 1.4 coupe but the animal never existed. This is a unicorn story that keeps appearing about far eastern coupes. There was a 1.8 coupe for 2 years in Europe only, LHD with the 4cyl 130hp lump from the Barchetta.

There really are new coupes in Malaysia. The last 200 (built July-Sept 00) were shipped out and 35 remain in aircon storage in a warehouse in KL.

I looked at them with a view to buying and importing some into Europe but the admin/paperwork/cost etc for what's still an 8 year old car was huge.

It also looks like Fiat were never paid for the cars on export so they can't be re-exported from Malaya as the dealer can't get an export licence.
