I found an engnie like this one,

http://www.designercars.dk/biler/Fiat-Punto-0.jpg

its the same structure like 1.8 Punto HGT , Barchetta Or Coupe.

Its 16v VFD , 4 coils engine.

The seller say its 1.6 coupe engine !!!!

I saw the 1.8 engine before, and this one is much smaller as far as i remember.

So, is there any 1.6 16v VFD engine ?? and what is it for??

Thanks for help,

Regards,

Mostafa

I might be very wrong on this, but isnt there a 1.4 coupe that was sold in japan (or somewhere else with funny engine size regulations)? with the 1372 punto engine. Maybe i'm thinking of barchettas...

i think you're confused with the 1.4 16v barchetta concept

Does it really exist?!?! would be about 120bhp (if set up the same as uno/punto). I'd be very interested to see pictures..

Umm, the engine as i see is 16v VFD NA (not turbo) with 4 coils.

So, if we assumed its not for a coupe, is there any other models that got 1.6 4 coils VFD 16v engine ??

and what would be its specs??

it must be a mistake. you never have a 20v head on a 4 pot block, it would be 8v or 16v (uno and punto turbos used the 8v head- a very outdated and harsh engine imo).

yes, the stilo. it has 103bhp. very similar to the earlier 1.6 used on the bravo brava marea, except the earlier engine does not have 4 coils (it has 1 coil pack with 2 coils inside).

i'm not sure if it has been used on any other cars. i would expect all post2002 1.6 16v fiats to use it.

not sure what the purpose of this valve is yet
to allow the car to have a 20v sticker on the back? it doesn't need to allow any flow in or out of the cylinder, as long as its there you can say its a 20v'er.

it wouldnt be the first time something was done purely for that reason.

hey, it doesnt say that its a 4-pot. We're all just assuming its the uno engine! It could be some top secret project that was never released in europe cos it was complete rubbish...

Or it could be a 1998 20v engine running on 3 cylinders....

(1998/5)*3 = 1199cc

hmmm maybe not!!!

There must be someone on this forum who knows? The original reference was from a workshop manual for sale on ebay i think.

" you cant have a 20v 4pot.

of course you can - five valves per cylinder - Audi / Seat / VW / Skoda have had several version for years. Hell - even Yamaha did it in 1986 with the FZ750

ok technically you can have as many valves as you want.

yes other brands have used a 3 intake valve design. the idea is that even though the total area of 3 small valves is less than 2 large valves, the valves are only partially open the majority of the time the circumpherence is more important than the area.

however, i mean you cant get a fiat 4pot 20v engine. there has never been one. suggesting fiat would spend the time and money making the 1.4T's 8v head into a 20v head, and then only using it on the coupe in japan, is a very silly suggestion.

how do you know it was a 5 cylinder 20v 1.4? though that seems too low to justify 5 cylinders.

It's possible though that fiat may have produced a coupe for export with the (4 cylinder 8v) uno/punto 1.4, and the "20v" was just a misprint.

And no-one on here (which includes people who've had Coupes for years, and know rather a lot about them), or on the Coupe forum, or on Wikipedia, or in Fiat's Coupe technical guide knows anything about them?
Sounds more like you're desperate for there to be a 1.6 or 1.4 Coupe.

If you can find one, I will buy a hat and eat it.
