Hey seems my beloved 20v coupe has recently begun to make an annoying hum inside the car while driving wiv a lot of vibration under foot which seems to come from the rear, its almost as its ur driving wiv the rear brakes on?? Ne advice wud b appreciated as im scared its a biggy!! and the nhs dont pay well enough for a engine overhaul!!!

well if its coming from the rear i doubt its the engine :D

but i would check the wheels see if they are buckled or maybe the weights have fallen off the rears wheels
also could be bad discs or pads or the hub as i to had to change one of those on our coupe 20vt e

will check ur suggestions and hope makes a difference as noise wise cant hear yaself think inside the car tho cant be heard from outside?? best description is like driving wiv the rear brakes perm on!! ;)

well am miles away between herts+middx so aint sure about that lol

funny u mentioned that as just bin fairly reliably informed its prob rear wheel bearing which is kinda a big relief jjust gotta try sort which one now and get it done asap as always happens wen u need the bloody motor, so hopin itll b ok, must say big thanx 2all on ere tho 4 the info tho, as much as i aint a mechanic the cars still me pride after 9yrs so good 2know theres help available without a bill after!! ;)

thats what i meant by the hub as im sure the coupe rear hub comes as a complete unit cant just do the bearings think i was around 80 for the rear unit in total but its a **** easy job to do :D

well shes only a 20v non oturbo so hopefully that may mean its a bit cheaper lol ..... i hope ne way

agree with the fact of it being the bearing

other posabilities are warped disk or seised caliper.

1. get it jacked up and see hoe free the wheel turns, if its moving freely disk prob is eliminated.

2. while its jacked up get someone to pump the brake and see if you can see any movement, if so caliper problem is eliminate.

3. If you do they to and the come back as ok i would deffinately say its the bearing...

would do 1 and 2 first just to make sure so your not spending excess money but from what you say i think it IS the bearing...

not really a hard job if you have the tools and as for price if you go to a motor factor like D and A or something i reckon prob be like £50.

Good luck with it anyhow.
