Hi all, before I start rooting around under the dash etc, I am on my 3rd Multipla now and all three have suffered the same issue ! When listening to radio or CD, the sound is usually very good, but quite often the passenger side speakers go dead then come back on again sometimes after a few minutes or sometimes hours later. Is this a known fault on multiplas with a quick fix ?? or a long job tracing the wiring ? Cheers

Yes, it is a known fault. That said, it's been a while since anyone's posted about it on here and I can't remember the cause/cure. I'll have a search....

Back again. Does yours behave like this?:

I think there may be more about this on the other Multipla forum. I can't find much on this one, but I remember reading about it when I had the problem. Something to do with either the main wiring loom or a daughter board in the back of the head unit having some dry joints?

Hi WMF, thanks for reply, I can't think of a link between anything I do that causes the speakers to go off, ie particular switches or functions, it seems to just happen at any old time, I will have to take the unit out and play around with the wiring see if it helps

Multipla Owners say replace the head unit (see second item down):

From what I recall, the problem is inside the head unit. I remember I had to take the lid off of mine and redo the solder connections onto a little daughter board (i.e. a small extra circuit board that's connected to the main one) right at the back of the casing. I'm sure I was working to a picture guide from a post I found at the time, but can't find anything now.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

An alternative fix would be to replace the head unit. If you want to keep to the original type, Blaupunkt have a shop on ebay.de that sells refurb'd units with a 12 month guarantee. Mine was absolutely perfect - it looked like a new unit and had certainly had a new fascia panel fitted. Tape units are about £60 delivered, CD ones around £100 the last time I looked. I posted the link a few weeks ago on a thread started by Oltimer:
