integrated website map.

hi everyone

looking at making a site to test something out

I'll need to integrate an API type map into it, where people can tag different locations, when others click on those tagged locations i'd like some info and for it to take them to another site.

anyway, the main 2 seem to be bing and google maps but i haven't used either and wondered what anyone thought?

or if there's an easier way/better way i'd love to hear it!

The two you mentioned are the easy way. They also cost (at least google maps does) IIRC.

Ben will be the guy for that as we have one on the forum.

We use a free one at YorkshireItalia.. its powered by Googlemaps and is ran by a comapny/website called mapservices.org.

here is our map. we run it directly from MapServices website, but you can get the codes to embed it for free by clicking the links at the bottom of the page.

cheers Chris mate, think i seen your car down aycliffe at tesco last week, agreed they look like the easiest for now and i'm sure will do the job.

thanks for that Russ will take a look, that's roughly what i'm looking for.

it seems to me, they're over complicating these maps, they could easily be generated by a noob using a simple web menu in a couple of mins, never had a proper look but it seems like there's more too it than that! sure i'll manage, built a few half decent sites in the past few years, just getting back into it lately, seem to have forgotten more than i knew
