Installing new stereo query

Hi there!

Sorry if I don't have much information, I'm your typical girl without a clue about cars! lol

Before I had my Fiat, I had a Peugeot. I took out the cd system that I had installed in to the Peugeot, and I was just wondering if I am able to install it into a Fiat?
I thought I'd ask on here as I always seem to get ripped off at garages/anywhere car related, and didn't want to go down to my local car shop and them fob me off and saying I have to buy a new one if I can just use the one I already have....

Did it come with the old car or was it fitted later?

What fiat do you have now?

Is there a model number on the old stereo?

Basically as above. If it's an aftermarket (ie. non-standard) stereo then it should fit, but may require a different adaptor cable/wiring harness and a fascia.
