injectors?

bravo 1.6 sx '97.

started the car and injectors warning light came on and stayed on! car feels like it's not running on all four cylinders so i assume it's injectors...?

if that's the case, do i bother with computer testing anyway (my local charges £45 for test)?

do i replace all 4 and how much am i looking to spend per injector? any links would be appreciated..

is there any alternative to this as a temporary solution, coz financially this month is tough..

you dont need the test done m8 just put it in a garage the ecu doesnt need to be reset when the faulty injector is replaced

if you are on a real tight budget i would reccomend going round the local scrappies and getting one out of a write off will prob only cost you a tenna you can change them yourself but it can get involved if you dont have much mechanical experience

what area are you in someone may be able to reccomend a good garage

the car's running well again, left it for about hour and then started it again and it ran normaly like nothing happened, strange...
got a feeling the injectors are dirty and getting blocked... baught some 'injectors cleaning fluid' and put it in the petrol tank. we'll see..

Given that you should disconnect the battery anyway when changing the injectors an ECU reset comes for free

If they were just blocked the light would not come on.

A quick test for a failed 1.6 injector is to rev it and see if the light goes out on overrun. If it doesn't it could well be something else.

Another check is the resistance, they should all be the same resistance.

hmm, when it happened the light was constantly on, while engine was running and i had to keep my foot ona accelerator so it doesn't die.

am a bit confused about the testing business.. garage said that the only way to check whats wrong is to plug it in with their diagnosing computer. they charge 45 quid for that. how does ECU come into the picture?

lol thats because they are spanner monkies lol get the multimeter out and measuer the reistance on all of them
