injection system light keeps coming on

Hi,newbie here and I have a problem please help, I have fiat punto 1997, and just recently the injection system light keeps coming on, it doesn't stay on, goes on and off, also while I am driving the car seems to accelarate on its own and when I pull over and go into neutral, put hand brake on, it still accelarates on its own, I have also noticed it is using more fuel, please help.

Disconnect the battery for an hour then reconnected it and take it out for a good thrashing. Also maybe run some injector cleaner through(2 quid or somethin).

Quite often they just come on for no real reason though so I wouldnt worry to much.

Hi again, I will buy some redex but why is the car reving up on its own it is quite scary when it does it while I am driving. thanks for any replies
