ok since ive been back from new york, the petrol price has gone up 6 pence a litre (thats in like 3 weeks)

what the hell is that all about!?

94p per litre, its out of hand. ****ing bush and his war, i see some of the reasoning behind it but does he realise we all have to ****ing pay for it :mad:
**** **** BASTARD

How can a treasury spokesman make the claim that

"More than half the fuel used in the UK bears little or no fuel duty at all..."

I am tryin to figure out who this applys to? Its certainly not myself (my work currently charges 94.9p for unleaded!) Are local council authorities such as road workers, refuge collection services exempt from paying duty charges on fuel (i.e. Red diesel?)

As per usual the average joe is left to face the bill.....

94p a litre your lucky at that some of us are paying 98 and 99p a litre. And we're just doing it without moaning coz if we didn't pay it then we wouldn't be out in our cars. Unless someone can invent one that goes on fresh air. That would be free!

theres no asda near my house m8, i just spotted it whilst i was in BOD

anyway, my work is paying for my petrol atm ;)

Well there you go then it'd not even your expense so what's all the moaning about?? Other people are actually paying the expensive and ever increasing prices out of our own pockets.

Worse is yet to come guys..

My mate works in the oil industry, rumour has it that the prices will CONTINUE to rise for the next few weeks. Could get as bad as 1.20 a litre in the very near future

I hope to hell he was speaking shite!

Yea i heard it set to rise still too. There are more factors than the war in Iraq though that has pushed the price up. Heard rumours of possible fuel strikes on the news.....

As much as I agree with the principles the protestors are showing I for some reason feel that their protests are slightly pointless.

Dont get wrong I dont approve of the high petrol prices at the moment but their protests shall fall on deaf ears amongst the labour government - there must be some other way of displaying public anger, the blockades at refineries etc only cause public distress and could potentially raise the price of petrol higher as it becomes in short supply. I truley applaud their efforts however cant help but feel there must be a more amicable way to try and show the Government that the public is sick and tired of the way they are treated.

I am also curious if the price(s) of petrol shall fall again once the current "shortage" crisis has died down - I really do doubt that garages and/or the government shall put down the prices over the forthcoming months and again it shall be Joe Public who is left out of pocket to cover the costs.

There is little the Government can do about this at the mo which makes the fuel protest a load of rubbish.
If they want to be accurate they could either march on God as the current price is a direct result on Hurricane Katrina or have a go at OPEC.

I think the one thing the Govt could do is lower fuel duty slightly and start making the airlines pay it because at the moment they don't.
This would also have a beneficial knock-on effect to pollution (air travel is comfortably the worst) as less people would trwavel due to the airlines passing the price on to the customer.

There is no point in calling for lower fuel duty (without some other change) as the Govt would simply take the tax from somewhere else or cut services even furhter.

i say do away with the royal family, russia had the right idea

well prince big ears gets £12,000,000 per year spending money. i would hate to think how much their allowance as a family came to. bastards the lot of them, they do jack and get away with it.
