Hi, Yeah I think it is the Euro 5 engine ???, it's 2.3 150bhp if that's the case then will I not have a set of figures were the dashes are. How can I confirm that it is a Euro 5 just to be sure.
If it is the new shape Ducato introduced in 2014 it will have a Euro 5+ engine. If you check the service schedule in your handbook, you will see that there is no schedule shown for oil changes in the time and mileage grid chart. Instead, the schedule states that "The actual interval for changing the oil and replacing the engine oil filter depends on the car usage conditions and is signalled by a warning light or message on the instrument panel and must never exceed 2 years".
In other words, it is recommended to change the oil and filter every 2 years at a minimum, but depending on the usage conditions of the vehicle, you may be notified to change them earlier.
In those circumstances, showing a mileage to the next oil change makes no sense, because it might show 10,000 miles one day. You could then drive another 5,000 miles to find it now showing 2,000 miles because of more severe operating conditions being encountered in the intervening period.
Extended oil change intervals (2 years) are OK for vans covering relatively high mileages, where they are in use for moderate to long journeys almost every day. For vehicles which spend a lot of time parked or on short journeys, which includes many motorhomes, it is better to change the oil and filter at least annually. Iveco, who share versions of these engines with Fiat, recommend annual oil and filter changes for vehicles travelling less than 20,000km (12,500 miles) a year. In those circumstances, you are unlikely to experience an oil change required message, so just stick to an annual oil change and don't worry what the dashboard may or may not be telling you.
You do need to reset the oil degradation counter though (with
MultiEcuScan or similar) since it is cumulative. Unless you reset it at each oil change, you may eventually experience the vehicle telling you that you need to change the oil even though you may have just done so, and it will go into restricted power and then limp mode a short time later.
