I've got an old (V reg) Multipla with 60,000 miles on the clock. It's in generally good condition, although the electrics seem to be getting a bit temperamental. This morning I noticed that the indicator lights (all of them!) have started to go on when I turn the engine off. They work normally when the car is running, including the hazards, but as soon as the engine is switched off they light up like a Christmas tree. I simply can't get them to go off! I'm sure it's not the alarm/immobiliser, and I've tried switching the lights on and off again in different sequences with the engine on. Short of disconnecting the battery or removing a fuse when I'm parked I'm stumped! Any ideas?

I found a reference to a little black button on the ignition in the Seicento forum, and bingo! that's done the trick. It seems I was turning the ignition key too far before removing it. That'll teach me to buy a car without a manual! Only problem is, I went out this morning to find the battery was dead - my squashed frog is flat! I'm certain I didn't leave anything on, so I'm hoping it's just a duff battery...

black button on ignition switch should turn you parking lights on when leaving your car on a dark street.strange that it puts your indicators on,but if it cures the fault, what the heck!

You're right - it does put the parking lights on. I thought I'd fixed the problem, but the flat battery on Saturday and then Sunday persuaded me otherwise! I'm no mechanic, but I reckon the indicator lights are something to do with the alarm, although the siren doesn't sound, so I've removed the fuse (number 12, I think - managed to get my hands on a manual). I've driven around for an hour to charge the battery, and I'm hoping that will be a temporary solution. I'm left without interior lights and a stereo, but that's a small price to pay for a car that actually starts! Can anyone tell me how to disable the alarm without removing the fuse? The manual seems to suggest that it's not possible in the UK at the behest of the insurers, but I really don't need it - who's going to nick a V-reg Multipla?!
