Just ask some of the people on the forum. I'm no mechanic by a long stretch but I had the 1.4 12v and due to the fact that it was an experimental engine from Fiat it is loaded with problems in the long run especially with mid to high mileage. I had to get rid of my Bravo a while back now, but before it went I was advised by many a person on the forum to go for a engine transplant. I remember now the 2.0 coupe will only go into an HGT or the bigger engine sizes without too much work done to the chassis but a 1.6 16v swap would do nicely though.

The Turbo comes in 2 flavours, 4cly 16valve and 5cly 20valve. The main issue with fitting these engines is the plumbing for the turbo.

The general concensus seems to be that the distance between the chassis rails on the Bravo non-HGT and HGT is the same, its just the HGT has flares wheel arches and a wider front track width.

Thanks a lot pal! i lowered the car and put on 16'wheels but the horsepower is not enough!i had a saxo 1,4 bypassing me last week ...such a shame!

look i love my car and i dont want it to be destroyed...how about placing a turbo on the same engine?

That would cost mega-bucks as you'd need all new manifolds, ecu remap, turbo, internal engine work etc...

There is no easy fix :(

I've got a 1.4 12v. I know there is not that much you can do. The engine is just not ment to be a race car engine. But you can get more horsepower. (not too much).. You can change the airfilter, change manifold, get a catreplacer, remove the middle box, change the rear box, get a boostvalve. All in all it may help you get 10 - 15 horsepowers extra. Or get NOS, but I doubt that is healthy for the little 1.4 engine...

By the time you've spent all the wonga on mods, you may aswell have bought a decent 2nd hand 1.6 or 1.8.

I have only ever driven the 1.4 12v on a few occaisions and it's certainly no brute. Mind you, I am a bit disappointed with the HGT, so I have no room for argument.
