Looks like dimpled stainless steel heat shielding. Can't see why you would need it there.
probly summin to do with that bonnet vent directly above it.

yes i dont mind the bonnet vents makes it unusall nd unique as ive seen no1 else with them
the mesh in engine bay is incase the water goes through the vents it doesnt get all in the engine if u know wat i mean
fist of all i wasnt to sure about the exhausts but they have grown on me i thought they might off been a bit chavvvy. but it does give a massive roarr when u floor it not like a big bore exhaust sound
