Ok, I need some help...
I have a 77 124 Spider, and the original ignition switch finally gave out. I'm having it rebuilt, but in the meantime got a cheep Russian Lada replacement switch.
The original switch had 7 posts, including a #16 post. The new switch only has 6 posts. After some internet research I wired the Grn/Blk & Gry wire that was on 16 to the 15 post along with the Pink wire.
Reconnected the battery ground, and the car would turn over again, fire and run roughly for a few seconds. Disconnected the battery ground and check all my connection, tightening a few. Reconnected everything, and now she'll turn over but not fire. Also noticed that the gauges, turn signal and fuel pump are nonoperational, but were before. Thought I had traced it to a blown inline fuse, which I replaced (fuel pump?), but no change. Have checked all fuses and connections...but am stumped.
Another interesting change, if it helps, the headlights now turn on with the ignition off, which was not the case before the switch.
I'm afraid I've fried something along the way, but didn't notice any smoke or smell anything odd. Now I'm concerned that when I get my original switch back, it won't work either.
Current wiring configuration...
15 = Lt Blue/Black & Pink; Grn/Blk & Gry (was 16)
30 = Brown
30/1 = Blk
50 = Red
Int = Lt Blue/Red & Blue
HELP!
Thanks - David
