General Ignition Keypad

Hi all,
Just registered as a new member, and would appreciate any help you can give.
Bought a 'P' reg Ulysse yesterday and it has got a keypad hanging out of the dashboard that has to be used to cancel the immobiliser. Is this unit standard on Ulysse's and can it be removed to avoid having to go through the rigmarol every time?

Also, previous owners had removed radio unit and put their own in. Before selling removed theirs and left an OLD dodgy unit on the seat. Will the steering wheel controls work with any radio fitted, or does it have to be a particular make / model ?

I had a friend with the keypad in his 306. He had it disabled. I can't say for the Fiat though but I would of thought a dealer could turn it off but I'm sure the guys on here will give you more info to the Fiat side.

As for the stereo, the stalks will not work with just any old radio. Your best bet is to try and obtain a standard Fiat stereo again. If not adaptors can be bought to make the stalk work with after market stereos.

yup hes right we disabled ours [1] start the car leave it running do not stop it [2] pull the wires from the rear of the key pad all done easy as that my freind works with fiat so we got the replasment facia as well [little cubby box] they disable a lot as the wires can snap then its lots of £££££££££££££££££££££££ .hope this helps

Thanks for the very quick responses, I will try the method you have described and see how it goes. The wife:worship: will be using the car for childminding work, so cannot afford for things like the keypad etc to go wrong . My life would not be worth living!!!!!!

With regards to the radio question.........would any fiat radio be compatible with the control bottuns on the steering wheel

ours has a philips radio whith fiat on the front to fit another make ie sony you would need another lead or interface about £30 try your local halfords ask what radio would fit you can always go and look on ebay or the local breakers or try www.breakerlink.com or try a question on the ice part of the forum oh and remember disconect the keypad with the engine RUNNING MY MATE TOLD ME THIS ABOUT 40 TIMES
