I have posted before my woes with this problem and thought I had it beat by cleaning the idle control valve and resetting but today it started again also the car seems to hesitate at speed (60 ) but only slightly.
Spoke to a main dealer about this ..being prepared to bite the bullet and get it fixed by the proffesionals for peace of mind.I thought the interogater (lap top to you and me) would reveal all but they said that only if the ecu warning light came on when it was playing up would it make an entry detailing the part at fault. Since that had not happened they would have to replace items working through the system until it was cured. The first item was of course the icv which at £85 plus fitting aint cheap. He then said that sometimes the lamda sensor can give similar problems so they would then replace that and so on!!Surely there is a way of testing these items rather than just replacing
them?
Where is the lamda sensor on the 97 2.00 petrol version and is it easy to replace?

Mmmmm not exactly economical! Firstly you can never rely on 'examiner',its a tool the same as any other in the toolbox. It can be very useful(if you know how to use/read it correctly)but can lead you quite easy down the wrong path.Every component can be check but if intermittent this can often be understandably awkward, the lambda sensor is easily checked on examiner.
