ICE INFO NEEDED

I had a young lad come into my works today with a "Corsa" sorry for swearing.
Anyway he has a full body kit on and flushed doors and on the inside it has the regular two seats in the front and one large bucket seat in the rear surrounded by Subs.
He has 5 amps 1 for each of his 4 subs and the other 1 runs the 6x9's and other speakers in the car.
He doesn't know what size the amps are just said "there large i think" 2 subs are 700w and 2 are 600w.
Anyway the point of this posting is this it won't work!!
I waited till he had left before i pissed myself laughing but he asked if there is anything that he should check as nothing seems to work at all he only has one 6x9 working on the parcel shelf.
He also asked about a power cap and if he should get one and what exactly did they do.
Isaid i would ask some guys who know a damn sight more than i do on this subject so i did. (but they told me to ask you guys) lol only joking.
Anyone got any ideas?
I know the details are a bit vague and it is a "Corsa" but i feel kind of sorry for the lad he's only about 18 and when i'd finished telling him how inferior his car was towards a Fiat he looked pretty miserable.

Um, yes.. its about as low as you can go without buying SPLx stuff.

if it's just not working it must be something simple. i'd unwire everything and plug it in one by one, getting one amp and speaker set to work at a time. How has he got the signal cable from the head unit running on that many subs? is his wiring big enough. apart from that it must be something daft/simple

Did he forget to put the fuse in?..i know its simple, but i know someone else who done this (eh TAFI)..lol

Are all the power light coming on, on the amps? Maybe his power cable isnt big enough?..find out what guage it is.

700w's? That Sony speak for 100wrms

I think he went a little over the top with 5 amps for eahc of his pony subs, i mean sony subs.

Id imagine, fuse or wiring - or its been connected up wrong. Also check the power on wire from the headunit if its got one, chances are the 12v that it outputs, is probably split over 5 amps - 2.4v for turning on, I think that dont work!

The cap wont do anything, if he hasn't got a bigger alternator to charge the battery up. Well if hes got a power hungry, i mean ineffecient sony amp then hes gonna need a big farad cap 1-2f?? Can someone verify this? looks like £150 upwards for one.

i have been thinking of getting a SPLx decal for my window, it is as good as haveing a alarm if u ask me, no self respecting thief would nick any SPLx stuff, lol they couldent give it away !!

I bought a 1000watt SPLx amp when my BOSS one was wrecked. I bought it as I'm Mr Cheapo. It went back after 2 weeks. The sound quality was awful and it overheated after 20 mins, 5 mins to get back to normal, play for 5 mins then cut out again.

bring your car to sheffield, those that could read the sticker would think they struck gold. They've taken the remote for my stereo, a cd head unit without the facia, an empty cd case, a padlock with no keys and a £10 set of wheel trims to name a few of their more pointless steals!

LOL.

Please don't think it's my car i wouldn't be seen dead in it.
It's a Vauxhall Corsa with a full body kit on.
I have to admit it's well put together and i can appreciate the work that's gone into it but it's a Corsa, in my opinion that's just the next step up from the god awful Nova.
I'll take my camera to work tommorow and if he comes back in i'll get some pics so you can all have a good laugh.
