There must be some creative ideas for stereos in classic pandas.

my car arrives this weekend, i think with the original radio (MW/LW) and dash speakers.
Not looking for anything flash but thinking about looking for something that will just play an iphone6. is there anything around that will allow me to dock an iphone6 and play my music, will probably upgrade the speakers but dont won't to modify it too much.

what have you done

I just swapped in a new head unit which has an aux in. Then connect phone/mp3 through a cable. Most modern head units do this. Some have Bluetooth too. Think mine is a JVC about £60 from halfords. I'm in the middle of building speaker cabinets to fit in the boot will post pics in a couple of days.

I put a modern Pioneer stereo with bluetooth and twin USB inputs (takes ipods and memory sticks) and a 3.5mm AUX socket.

But if you want a period stereo there are guys out there (on the interweb) that sell period push button MW/LW radios that are actually FM stereos with ipod connectivity. I've seen them demonstrated at Classic car shows. They are very good.

man if that radio just has MW and LW it is really old school.

not really sure what to suggest. all the radios i have seen look ultra modern :/

stick an old cassette deck in it, and just use an FM transmitter. thats what my brother did when he had a marbella (like a panda only Spanish)
wonder how the marbella is now..

I'm using one of these in each. Fairly decent meaty sound, ipod/phone compatible and the display will change colour to match the dash. Not exactly period but not too shouty either.

got 10cm speakers in dash pods and 13 cm speakers in the rear shelf on one, 6x9 in the other. Obviously the 6x9s sound better, depends how big a hole (if any) you want to hack in that rear shelf. I've mounted my rear speakers in rectangles of covered mdf in the recesses in the rear shelf to maintain rigidity. If you don't want to buy pods for the front you can make your own, I used ply, using the end of the dash radio housing as a template for the sides.

Hint, for front speakers these are great:

Purely because the grills are smaller than most, vast majority of 10cm speakers the grill finishes up slightly too wide for any pod that will fit in the gap on the drivers side of the dash.

I don't think you need a push button LW/MW radio to be period with a panda.

In car CD players have been around since the mid 80's!

Panda's look alot older than they are but putting 60's/70's tech into them is taking it a bit far ;)

Those push button radios were pretty crap even in their day!

OP is getting a '91. Clearly yours just needs anything with a red stripe and the word 'turbo' stencilled somewhere on the front:p

Nah, I need a Starsky stripe
