Hi,
Not sure if this topic has been written about thousands of times, but I did a search and could not bring back any worthwhile results. I am the third owner of my Stilo and bought this car from an independent dealer back in early 2006, this dealer has since moved on.
I have known for a while that flashing indicators can be a bonus to the vehicle by simply reading these forums and knowing of other stilo's that do this, but being late to the game, I havent done anything about it till now.

Also, I understand a code card would probably be needed to activate this, and by reading the car manual it shows me what this card looks like, but I have not been given one, and I was only given one fob to start with, with no spare key.

So, how would I go about obtaining one of these code cards, and is it possible to make the flashing indicators work every time you lock/unlock the vehicle without needing this card. As I am also going to be in the process of obtaining a spare fob, how much would this code card set me back from the dealer, and what would they need to do.

Many thanks.

I think you'll find most dealers can get the code from Italy (they did for mine).

Best bet is to ask nicely if they'll do it whilst car is in for something else that needs Examiner connected. (like a service)

Give then advance warning so they can get the code though.

When I had mine done, they didnt ask for any codes - Im not sure if they gave up on that system. Just ask them to do it, and if they ask for the code, say you didnt know it even existed and they should get you a new one. But as I said, you may not even need it!

Thanks adamcot,

In fact, I have my car booked into an Italian car specialists to carry some work out tomorrow, do you know if its only a dealer that can do this, or can an independent italian specialists do this. Would they need to know in advance to do this, or can they do it asap.

As long as they've got Examiner (which they should if they're an Italian Car Specialist), you should be fine. The sooner you let them know, the better. Give them a call first thing tomorrow and ask if they can do it for you.

I take it your car has the factory fitted alarm? If it doesn't, can the car still do the indicator flash on a lock/unlock?

Not sure if this will help you. It's out of the Stilo FAQ's...

Factory Fitted Alarm Settings
During the end of line PROXI the COUNTRY MODE of the alarm is memorized (default: EEC) and can be altered by the service network using the following procedure:
  1. Turn the Ignition ON.
  2. Turn the Hazard Warning Lights ON.
  3. Press and HOLD the Rear Fog Lamp button.
  4. Using the ignition key carry out the following sequence in strict order: key off (< 2 s), key on (< 1s), key off, starting from the key on state and keeping the Rear Fog Lamp button pressed.
  5. At the end of the sequence the siren will beep 5 times to confirm that the programming has been activated.
  6. Release the Rear Fog Lamp switch and press it again the same number of times as the desired mode (if the button is pressed for an invalid number of times, the siren will beep 5 times and the procedure will be cancelled).
  7. Turn the Ignition ON within 10 seconds of pressing the rear fog lamp switch for the last time.
  8. The siren will beep the same number of times as the operating mode selected.
  9. At the end of the beeps, turn the Ignition OFF; the Body Computer is programmed for the new operating mode.
Operating Modes are as follows:
  • MODE 1: Default Mode (EEC)
  • MODE 2: GB
  • MODE 3: Belgium
  • MODE 4: Holland
  • MODE 5: World
  • MODE 6: Temporary Market
  • MODE 7: "Range"

Where did you get this procedure from?

There must be more procedures like this.

I want to set my car so that my car shows all the menu functions on the clocks display, rather than the Connect nav+ which doesnt work. Some people have said it isnt possible, but I can't believe there isnt a procedure like this to do it.

Right seriously confused :(

I've got the aftermarket Fiat alarm on my stilo, the one with the little black windscreen thingy!

When I took my car in for a service at Fiat I asked them whether they could turn on the light flash for the alarm, they said NO cos its the aftermarket one.

But the plot thickens. . . thanks to Greggers above I've been 'messing' with the settings he mentioned, this is what I've found,

If I hold the rear Fog Light button in, turn Ignition on for 2 secs, off, on for 1 sec, off, release the Fog Light button, press my lock button on the fob the alarm beebs twice indictors flash, WOO HOO I thought, but then trying it again did nothing just got the red LED flashing.

So the question is how the hell do I 'save' this??? I've tried pressing the fog light button again (tried 1x, 2x) tried turning ignition on to 'save' it but nothing!!! I know it can be done but how :bang:

Any help gratefully appreciated

After reading on the forum here it appears that the code card was not supplied with UK models? Anyway, at a price of £10 Fiat contacted whoever they do, the international security register maybe, and got a code for me. They wanted £20 as a standard charge for hooking the car up to their diagnostic machine and said they would switch on the indicators for me when locking/unlocking.

Half an hour later they returned saying that the computer kept freezing and crashing for some reason when they tried to switch on that particular option - not sure if it was my ar or their computer causing this. They therefore did not charge me for connecting it up to the diagnostic computer. They handed back the key and as i approched the car i pressed the unlock button and low and behold the indicator lights flashed twice...i locked it and they flashed once..i couldn't believe it....i turned round to go back into the dealer to say they were working.....and then thought better of it!

Just to reiterate, I was talking to Paul Newton at Avanti Autos Ipswich while my car was in for some work today (I cannot rate this bloke highly enough(y)(y)(y)), he does a superb job and is very thorough and honest, and anyway, he stated the same, that the code card needs to be ordered from the international security register and then he can proceed from there onwards.

Not given out in the UK, due to pressures from the insurance companies, I believe.

I got a code card for mine for a few £ max. This was from the FIAT parts department. The ISR also hold the information.

on a side note, no airbag failure, that feels good, none of that dreaded beep beep beep stop engine every time i get in the car, im starting to appreciate this silence.

I have already tried 2 main dealers and they say the same, 'hmmm dunno bout the aftermarket one!' rubbish!
I've got it to do it (flash that is ) but only once there MUST be a way to save it!!

:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

ANYONE????

ANYONE????
I think you're making this over complicated :)

Any Stilo can be made to flash indicators whether it has an alarm or not.

Just ask the dealer to activate flashing indicators on lock/unlock (make sure you read all of this thread for tips) and don't even mention the alarm.
