Hydrogen Fuel?

Hydrogen Fuel?

its been on the cards for a while now. with the honda clarity in the US being invited plus its use in aviation (we studied it a bit in class). but the only draw back with it is the storage of the stuff. the clarity is basically a ticking time bomb. its definetly coming though no worrys. plus it would eliminate the evil that is electrical cars.

did anyone see the top gear episode when James tried the Clarity out?

Definitely got to welcome new technologies that will reduce the so called global warming carry on. One bit that stuck out was "It has three times more energy than petrol per unit of weight" this will be picked on by insurance companies as there will be a marginal increase in power output using this fuel, a bit like an lpg car currently gains a few bhp.

Best part being it could be used in all the existing cars and no need to go and buy a plug in leaf etc.

That the motor where all the controls automatically move over to whatever side of the car you're sitting in??
If so then Yep I saw it.

As they said Hydrogen Fuel is very dangerous & difficult to store.

That will involve more training for Petrol Station Staff, with the:
If the Hydrogen pump catches fire. jump in you're car & get the hell out of the area.

Average Petrol Station will wipe out an area of 4square Miles, due to the fact that it's basically 1 big bomb waiting to go Bang.
Worst thing with some petrol stations is their location, often having houses surounding them.
Worst I know of is the Total site I used to work at in West Sussex... Houses either side & opposite the petrol station

very true richard, but it would be cool to have a car that runs on hydrogen and doesnt polute the world but then have a car in a garage that u can tinker with and still runs with oil and petrol and makes amazing noises but only use it now and then

agree with you there, although I imagine if this fuel can be used like regular fuel then the engine noises will still be there? Woohoo, bring back the old alfa v6 mmmmm

i think they are trying to say that this method of hydrogen fuel is based on petrol type so it doesnt need any special storage containers that makes it a ticking bomb :) they are saying it could be used in current cars but

at 19p a litre whats the goverment gonna do :D no emmissions - does that mean we all get free road tax

and what percent are they gonna tax it 19p with 100% tax is still only 38p the goverment wont be able to live on that ??
