Hello there :) just joined up as i'm getting rid of my ZR 160 & after purchasing a 1.9 Multijet Sporting. When buying is there anything I should check for in particular as the zr I bought had a few problems I didn't notice! Could do with a car that is without problems from the start lol also is it true the punto a poor quality car riddled with issues like i've heard a few times? Many thanks.

Yeah suppose. Heard both good & bad things, all I can do is look after it. Went to check out a GP at Car People other day, looked way nicer in the flesh! Some decent prices around too.

There have been a number of threads before about things to look out for when buying a 1.9 so a search will turn up some usefull information. Gearbox problems, worn clutches and dual mass flywheels are worth looking out for.

I had a ZR 105+ facelift, apart from the stupid alarm system it was the most reliable car i have ever owned. Most of the problems i have encountered with the GP have been down to the fact it has been tuned.

Mines the Mk2 160 which is quite nippy actually i just think they aren't built very well. Only problem i've had was with the alarm ecu, the hazards wouldn't stay on so it wouldn't pass the MOT & the boot wouldn't open using the keyfob which is the only way to get in. Quoted me about £640 but then managed to use an other spare ecu & sorted it for £200. Its lowered 35mm & tbh looks pretty nice, just fancy a nippy diesel with better mpg. Not sure if a noisy diesel engine would bug me though.
