If you've read my new thread on my new Cat D repair, you will have seen that I have put a new door on today.

I am trying to take the old door handle off and put it onto the new door. I've undone the nut that holds the hinge end on so that end is free, and I've undone the screw in the door jamb but the other end is still held fast. I've shone a torch into the back of the door and put my head in as far as I can, but I can't see or fee any other screws and I just can't figure it out.

Anyone shed any light on how it comes off?

Found this on another forum, may be useful, but you've probably already seen it?

Sure thing, we've done quite a few handles. There are 5 bolts to remove to get the door panel off, one is behind the interior door handle (remove the round part), two are under the grab tray on the door panel, and two are on the outside edge of the panel under two plugs. Then if you'll see a 6th bolt on the jam right next to the handle, remove this as well, then a few disconnects (the wires and bolts to the outside handle) and the handle will come off in one piece

Broke the handle today trying to get it out. No matter what I did, it just won't come out. There are tabs of metal stopping it, doesn't make sense.

Went for a visit to my bodyshop today and talked to the about it. They said they broke my handle on my previous car when they changed the door but luckily they were using the one from the original door on that so it's obviously a pain in the backside, even for the pros.

I've had to spend £35 on a new handle now so hopefully it will be easier to get one in, than it is to get one out. Otherewise the air will be blue . . . again!
