A mate of mine at work was asking me about the best way to fit discs/pads to the rear of his grande punto active sport, at the moment he has drums/shoes. He has fitted 17" sporting wheels and the drums just look awful.

To be honest, I don't have a clue and just adviced him too search it on the net or ask a garage. What would be the best way too go about this, does he need any speical fitting and the like apart from the discs/pads itself ?

You might find that there's an up market model -- T Jet, maybe? With disks all round. Or that there's something from Vauxhall (Grande Punto shares chassis).

Otherwise, forget it. It's very easy to screw up the brake bias (get that wrong and you'll have the rear end coming round on you under braking) and as both the static weight bias and weight transfer are toward the front, most of the work is done by the fronts anyway. You're extremely unlikely to gain anything other than bling by "uprating" the rears.
