I inputted your VIN to the free U.S. government website (shown below) for checking a car's VIN - your Vin doesn't match the U.S. system of recording a car's VIN, it reported an error in the 9th character and some other inconsistencies, suggesting your car was not built for export to the U.S. market, so possibly it was built to Euro spec? The initial 3 letters indicate a passenger car built by Fiat in Italy (possibly at the Mirafiori production plant).

The last 6 numbers of your VIN (i.e. 176509) corresponds to afaik what used to be the 'chassis' number. Checking a list I have, however, it suggests your car was built in 1980 for export to the U.S. (chassis numbers 166479 - 180978) but may have been diverted elsewhere.
Some ways of distinguishing a U.S. vehicle from a Euro or other market vehicle:-
U.S. specifications afaik included speedometer reading in miles per hour, marker/running lamps on both front and rear fenders and, depending on the location in the U.S. where the vehicle was to be sold, various degrees of anti-pollution (smog) equipment. Euro spec. (and possibly Canadian) vehicles had speedometers reading in KPH, no marker/running lamps and no smog equipment. U.S. spec vehicles also had various warning decals under the bonnet/hood which were absent on Euro and other market vehicles.
