Technical How to change a gear stick surround

Is anyone able to help please. My teenage daughter just bought her first car (Fiat 500 1.4 Lounge 2008), and lots of niggly little bits need fixing. We need to change the chrome reverse lift but I can't find a video anywhere, only ones to change the gear knob & gaiter. I've found the part on eBay so it won't come with instructions. Can anyone help a couple of girls so we don't break anything else in the process? Thankyou

So you have already taken the nut off? The shaft should just slide off I believe there is a spring towards the bottom that will need to be released first … if my memory serves me correctly… only done this once!

Ok, I'll have another look. Yes, nuts off, it slides (well, pushes up/down with some force!), but won't slide completely off. I couldn't see any spring at the bottom, and the one at the top is missing, hence the needing to change it.

I’ve only had mine off once and a few years ago but I’m pretty sure there was a spring .. I got mine off anyway so it should pull off
