On Saturday the 3rd of June 1989 I walked into the Stockport branch of D. C. Cook and collected my brand new Uno 60DS, F 636 JMA. I wanted it then because the following weekend I'd be going to France for a week. I drove it as much as I could to run it in and get the free oil change in before I went.

On Sunday the 11th of June Mrs. Beard and I left for Normandy and over the next week covered a 1,000 miles. Why do I remember the 3rd so well? Because the following Saturday, the 10th was my wedding day, yet in order to remember to buy Mrs. Beard an anniversary card I always automatically remembered that our anniversary was 7 days after the car's "birthday".

The Uno has long been turned into lawnmower grass boxes or whatever it became but Mrs. Beard and I are still going strong. :)

And if one more person says "How long? You get less than that for murder" I think I'm going to commit one.

Considering the number of people we know who's marriages haven't lasted more than a few years we were feeling quite smug, but then my parents have been married for 58 years.

We're mere amateurs by comparison. (y)

The trick is to keep trying, it's when you think you've got it sussed that it goes down the pan, but you'll know that already having reached 25 years. :D

You've certainly got a good point there, the number of people we know who've got married and gave up at the first hurdle is amazing. You've got to keep trying because to not do so will just end in failure and bitter recriminations.

Oh, and a healthy pay day for solicitors (n)
