i'm looking to buy a 1993 tempra sx 1.6 engine 86bhp.
can anyone with a similar car tell me how economical the car is?
how is your consumption l/100km in city and highway?
also, how often does it break down?
is the engine tourqey enough for smooth highway driving?
are there any heating problems?
how good is its air conditioning? does it reach the back passengers easily?

Hi, my tempra is a 2,0

I know it's not the same, but my car use about 9,5 L at 100 km

the engine torque is lovely! plenty of power there!

I've had mine since september 1993 and i haven't offered 1 euro on it!

Never a breakdown!

old one here was a 91 sx .6 carb 86bhp
think around town it did 27 miles a galon, averaged about 35mpg but on a long run say on the motorway, would be about 38 - 39mpg.

dont worry about the torque levels, its got plenty for effortless driving on motorways

We have 2, a 1.9td (everthing fitted except air con) and a 1.6 (basic), both estates both about 1993 vintage, both with about 100,000 miles on the clock.
The 1.9td gives 40mpg reliably under local and motorway conditions, typical of diesel. It's had 3 engine rebuilds after blown head gaskets which seems to be the weak point of the 1.9td. Running fine since I rebuilt it, the garage bodged it last time.
The 1.6 gives about 30mpg city, and 35 motorway, it's underpowered for the weight of the car, but goes quite well. Original engine build no rework or rebuilds to date.

Mike.
