hi

ive changed my mp3 today in the car and for that i removed the negative from the battery, now fitted it, connected the negative, mp3 lights up fine, engine wont start

the warning light for the code has come up, ITS THE ONE WHERE THE CAR AND PADLOCK SHOW..

problem is i dont have a code and ive been told this car a 2004 punto dynamic doesnt have one, so what do i do next???

ive also been told that its because the ecu has been reset so it isnt recognising the code of the key?

so where do i go next anyone??

dave andt14086, your both made engineers lol,,, thanks guys i just unplugged the new headunit and it started, i plugged in the old jvc headunit and it started? so theres something not right with the new headunit im trying to put in or as dave said a earth connection might be loose near the ecu as the new headunit is much powerful?

get back to me guys because i need to get this sorted if i want subs in my boot this weekend :D

once again thanks to dave and t14086

so what do i do?

one aftermarket headunit works fine with car, other one doesnt???

so how do i get around that problem?

Check the wiring is the same between the two after market HU's.

The aftermarket HU in my Stilo when I got it had a slightly modified wiring loom which I had to copy when I goy my after market HU and added it.

its either coincidence or the CAN wiring is being 'knocked out' hence immobiliser light.

if the new unit is same as old have you tried using the old stereos wiring loom or are you plugging the standard ISO DIN plugs into back of stereo?

well there both jvc, both round about the same spec, just the one causing problems is newer abit more powerful and as for the wiring im using the iso din plugs.... ive wired the new one just like the one taht is in there, i connect both the same way, ame wires etc but still one cuts in the immobiliser and one dont :S
