Thye have been frantically trying to cool the spent Nuclear Fuel Rods down at the Power Station, without sucess & now the basemtns are flooded with contaminated Water, which is now making the job far more dangerous than it was before.
Whilst I'm sure they are doing everything in there power and with the best knowledge in the world, I do feel they are creating more problems than they are solving. For instance, pumping all this water via cannons and helicopter drops, once it's been in contact with the rods, where does it go? If the spent rod tanks are damaged then the water will find it's way into the ground and into the sea, which is why the sea around the plant is now lethally radioactive and that the drinking water in the majority of Japan has elevated radioactive iodine levels.
I do hope that they can resolve the situation as soon as possible and hopefully the effects on life aren't too damaging or too long lived, which is always the struggle with radiation, it's present for a very long time.
