My 2000 X reg Marea 1.6 weekender is a problem to start 15 to 30 mins after I have completed a run. The engine fires and then the revs drop away as if there is fuel starvation. As the engine cools it starts OK and although for the first few miles it runs "raggedly" it then seems to be OK until it starts to cool down again.
I've had it in the main dealers and they can't trace the fault can anyone make any suggestions of what to check.

Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed and welcome to our forum. :)

Sorry to hear about your problem. If the fault only occurs shortly after the car has been stopped after a run then I would look at the temperature sensors first. If not that then there could be a fault with the lambda sensor or the mass air sensor.

A dealer diagnostic check should pick up faults in those areas.

If not then we are possibly looking at a fault in the electrics that is temp related, e.g. a crack in a coil, or possibly some contamination in the fuel system. It may be worth cleaning the injectors and checking the fuel filter.

Check the spark plugs for colour and signs of lean or rich running.

Good luck and let us know how you get on. Get back to us if you have any other questions.

One of the symptoms is to check your exhaust system for blockage, especially the cat (probably melted inside; that cause the blockage)
