General Honest John......

Hi Fellow Qubist,

Just wondered if anyone else looks at the Honest John website.......its a wonderful mix of everything to do with motors.

While checking it out a few days ago I idly checked into reported faults on the Qubo......new one on there.......Timing Chain Failure, leading to trashed engine......Fiat now recommends, so it says, oil changes at 5-7000 mile.

P.S. I also always record my m.p.g on the site.

If it's not just an isolated case then this is a serious problem, not just for Qubos or Fiat. The application list for this engine is massive:

I think we would have heard if was a common problem in other cars.

I change my oil & filter every 6 months or so (3-4k miles) as most of my journeys are short. 20k miles is a long way even for modern high-spec oils.

I don't know if we should believe the article anyway - would you trust a man with a name like that!!
