Hidy Hi!! - Help with stereo please!

Hi everyone! I'm Samii and i live in Buckinghamshire.

I have a Y reg Punto.

I have bought a new stereo for it but i can't for the life of me remove the factory fitted one!

I've followed lots of advice from posts on this site but still no luck.

I've used, the din release prongs, screwdrivers, knives, squewers to try and remove the thing but its not working and i now have a few scratches on surrounding dash

Any more ideas please because i've been trying for ages and am dying to fit my new stereo.

The stereo you have fitted just now - is it original factory fit or is it aftermarket? What manufacturer is it? Does it have 4 holes in the front of the unit?

I haven't fitted anything yet. I have bought a new stereo ready to fit but it's the factory fitted one i can't remove. Yes it has the 4 holes in but like i said i've tried all the suggestions i could find on here with no luck

If it has the 4 holes, the only thing you need is the 2 U-Shaped prongs. As I discovered yesterday though when removing the stereo from my OH's Grande, they go in a lot further than you might think and once they're in, you need to kind of bend them towards each other to release the clips, which again will take more force than you might think (I ended up bending ours slightly!). Try doing one side at a time, once it's unclipped, wedge something in to stop that side going back in while you unclip the other side.

I took your advice and put the pins in as far as i could and it worked so thank you!!

So glad i finally got it out!

Just have to get the new faceplate to slot in now before i can put my stereo in. For some reason it won't click into place.
