Hi, I have a Punto with a dodgy ecu

I have had my poor Punto off the road for ages cos the garage wanted a fortune to fix ecu etc. Its a 2001 1.2 model. I had the coils checked & all ok. Anyway I have bought a new ecu off ebay & now my Punto runs ok but the engine warning light is still flashing. Do I need to get it in a garage for another diagnostic? I never got a red key with the key when I bought it, just have normal blue ones. Any advice much appreciated Lorraine
