Hi,

I'm a new member here! I'm 17 and I've currently got a VW Golf Mk4 1.4 3 door, and with going to university soon, i decided it was time for a diesel! I was initially looking to upgrade that to a Mk4 GT TDI, but upon seeing some of the awesome examples of the JTD on here, and the lower insurance band, I've been converted!!

I have anywhere between £3000 and £3500 (possibly £4000) to spend on a Stilo JTD(three door oposed to five, as i don't need the extra room).

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of mileage, age etc i could expect in this price range?

Any ideas would be much appreciated :)

Rich

Have a look on ebay ..that will give you some ideas..welcome to the forum (y) nowt wrong wit the 5dr as well and you might need the extra room for books and the odd bit of passion in the back ;)

Thanks for the friendly welcome guys

PNL - I like your reasoning behind the 5 doors! Its a couple of valid points i hadn't taken into consideration ;)

I've found an example on eBay, not too far from me. I would post the link but having less than 5 posts i'm not allowed (n)

2002 Fiat Stilo JTD
Dark Grey
3 door
58,000miles
Full Main Dealer Service History
1 owner
And various extras i.e parking sensors, steering wheel audio controls etc

£3495

From what i can see the price isn't too bad, possibly a bit higher than it should be, but only 1 owner and a few extras (steering wheel controls, parking sensors etc). So i was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the price?

Again any ideas would be much appreciated :)

Early 02 stilos suffered from electrical problems which is well documented on forum

Hi, I bought my Stilo last week on 02 plate with 52000 full MOT all mod cons included & it cost me £2450. All in all very pleased with the purchase, think I got a bargain in really good nick.

Cheers,

Steve.

Sorry forgot to mention , in regards to electrical faults, my stilo did start showing the airbag failure message 2 days after I bought it. But this was just a loose connection in the circuit, which was easily remedied.

Think I'll hold out for an 03 or newer now :D

hello (y)

JTD is a great engine, and the newer the model you get the less problems you should have with it.

saying that, when buying a used car you cant tell what the past driver(s) of the car have been like with it :D

Hi there

I did test drive it and i was very impressed with the engine, had good pull in all gears, and as an added extra, i set the trip computer for the short test drive where i really stretched the engine at times and i still managed 45mpg average

I'm going to try to look out for a newer model i think, the thing that tempted me to the earlier example was that it had 1 owner and full main dealer service history, which is always a good thing :D but for around £3500 to £4000 i should be able to get something a bit newer i think.

Can i just say Josh that i just watched your video and your car is very very nice, it made me want a stilo even more (y) oh and now i need a skyroof
