500 Hi all

Over the past week I sold my pride and joy which was my smart roadster but yesterday purchased a fiat 500 by diesel, its a 2010 in amazing condition, just had 12 months MOT and Tax, just had a service, only 19500 on the clock with one owner. I paid £7000 which I think was a great price.

Only question I was wondering is I have 2 keys with it but can I purchase a 2nd hand (eBay) 3 button key and pay to have it cut and programmed to my car as I like the idea of having 2 of those keyfobs. If so how much does it cost for the cutting and reprogramming/coding??

Welcome! Lovely 500, I always liked that model.
Not sure you can just get a key from eBay and have it coded. I know with BMW you can't do it. Also the flip out 'key' would not fit the locks of your car.

In theory you probably can get a used key reprogrammed, but you would need to get the right sort of chip to re-virginise the key (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-In...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2ec4df12a5), you'd need to get a new blade cut which is not difficult and then you'd have to get the key reprogrammed.

It could work really easily or it could end up being a dead end.

The key I saw is a blank blade, it says that it has all the transponder etc inside but needs cutting and coding, just wondered if A: its possible and B: How much lol.

Only drove the car back last night but I love it already and despite what everyone has said about 500's being girls cars I really couldnt care less.

You'll need the electronic code for the car, the blade cutting and about half an hour's labour at a FIAT dealer.

It won't be cheap; get a quote before buying the key.
