Hello everyone, I'm here to find out a bit more about my biggest expense, and it sounds like people here really know their stuff.
I'm not a car fanatic, but I want to look after my Punto as well as possible.
My problem is that I have recently had my car serviced, and it has come back with a problem. When the engine is cold it idles with variable revs, and when driving it seems to "stick" i.e., you put your foot down but the engine doesn't respond, then jolts forward. Obviously this is pretty dangerous especially in low gears. My previous mechanic told me to always use 20/40 semi synthetic oil, I have checked the receipt from the recent service, and they used 10/40 semisynth. Could this be a thicker oil that doesn't work so well at low temperature? The car runs ok when its warmed up, but I dont want to damage it in the first 5 minutes, especially since this is usually driven at high revs (getting girlfiend to the station!)
Any advice would be great.
