Downgraded from a 3 litre 245bhp flat six petrol 4WD motor.
Bought a new 1.3diesel Mylife Dualogic through the Fiat Affinity scheme at work.

Well, it's different.

No major gripes apart from that Tomtom system fitted hasn't had the "Live" activated by dealer. Getting that sorted.

I disabled the "E" as it labours and also, starting off up a hill, by the time it made second gear (which it does at 2K revs in E), it had virtually slowed to a stop and there was a loud "Bang!" when it tried to change up. Seems OK now though.

It heats up a LOT quicker than my wifes diesel Picasso but not as fast as a petrol.

The bluetooth is a comedy show on voice activation. Just dials at random.

If you think of it as a van with benefits, it's alright. As a car, er:eek:

Everyone tries to overtake me and children point and laugh.

I like that you can have the window open a touch without getting drenched or blasted. Spilling raw turkey blood on the floor was remedied with a cloth to plastic!

One question, in what gear should you leave it when you stop the car to get out? There is no "P" and I think the manual said don't leave it in neutral. It certainly beeps half a dozen times very loudly if you do stop the engine in neutral.

Sure I will have some other questions, but at the moment, it's still going, occasionally interrupted by an Italian electrics driven Start stop.

Hi Ho Pirate Pat,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Qubo.........

Happen most cars would seem a little underpowered after running a 3L 245HP motor........not to worry you will get used to, and think of saving the planet..........lol

When you park up, just leave the stick in the central position, thats the normal drive position. Then as you kill the engine the system engages gear, so the car is parked in gear............good way to go.

You can do the same by moving the lever into reverse prior to killing the engine, then its locks into reverse gear..............

Neutral is not a good idea........hence the warning 'BEEPS'.......

Any other questions, ask away, lots of know how on these pages.

Have fun, and mind how you handle all that HP. Cheers Qube O....

Thanks Qube O. Blissful silence when switching off now! Having had "Park" for ten years, it wasn't natural to leave it in gear.

Just about 500 miles now and motor beginning to loosen up a bit though "Conservation of Momentum" seems to be the way forward, bit like an old 850 Mini.

Of course, I have wondered about one of the diesel tuning chips once it is run in, but are the clutch/gearbox etc likely to be up to an extra 20HP? (Though I would guess that not using all the beans would just give the improved economy?)

And it says nearly 22000 miles till first service!!! Am I reading that right?

Hi Pirate Pat, (Fellow Qubist),

Glad to have helped Re parking. As per the power output, mine is the 75hp unit, and until it had 10,000 miles under its belt was a poor puller. Now its done just under 16,000 and bears no relationship to its previous performance. Never going to be a sorts car, but it pulls no problems up hill/down dale, gives me plenty of power for overtaking, and will cruise all day on the motorway well above the legal limit. So I doubt if the remap/chip would be of any 'great' help, just give it time to bed in.

Other folks may have had a remap/chip done, so I look forward to reading what they have to say.

In closing, the last thing to point out is the warranty, shame to screw it up with a remap/chip, as I know 'Fiat' are very generous on warranty issues, in and out of the warranty period......lot to risk ?

As to servicing, yes its every 2 years on Qubo MJDs, way to go..............

Take care, Qube O...;);)

Yeah, on my dualogics (Panda and Bravo) I leave it in either 1st or Reverse (what ever its in prior to switch off) and then once I've switched off I throw the leaver into the N possition ready for it to be ing the correct possition before next start up.

Re Eco mode, it changes up before the torque curve saving a fair bit of fuel from experience, takes a while to get used to, but once you have all is good imo :)

With regards to chipping your engine,i,ve fitted one to my fiorino jtd 75 hp and it goes a lot better, pulls realy hard, seems to run smoother, and i.m getting about 53 to the gallon [ combined motorway and town ]
it.s a plug and play system by ''chip express''

Hi Pirate Pat

Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy your new Qubo. I have an 09 Multijet dualogic.

I may well be wrong but I was led to believe that the service interval was 20k or every 12 months whichever comes first. Personally if i am wrong I don't mind as I like to have it serviced every year at my favourite local trusted indie, not the stealership the vehicle came from.

Anyway best of luck.

Well, it's had its first battle! Coming along a quiet country road last night, went through a puddle...that was an unmarked pothole 3 feet long and two feet wide and 9 inches deep with hard edges. A very loud bang, one large tyre bulge and shot tracking resulted. So, £150 to fix and a snotty letter to the council to get them to pay for it (if I can)

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Hi mate I think you need to take your caps lock off, As a rule forum members, not just this one, perceive it as shouting. Its a bit like swear words best held back for full effect.(y)

Pirate Pat

sorry to hear about your pot hole mishap, the roads are truly shocking these days, even worse when they are waterfilled and you don't know how deep they are.

Most Fiats are now 18k or 24 months, although I'm not sure with the qubo.

Hi, new question. I now leave the gearbox in "drive" as recommended on here when stopping the engine and restart in the same place. However, sometimes, on switching back on, the gearbox beeps and reads neutral on the dash. I move the stick into neutral, then back again and it shows "auto1" Is this a bug coz it doesn't always do it.

:)

No, its because you should move it to neutral before starting - hence me explaining my method perviously.

The car will only start when the gearbox is in neutral, and will not change gear without a command, so will stay in neutral, while the selector is still in drive, so it beeps to advise that the selector isn't where it should be (y)
