Hi everyone. I am a reluctant owner of a'96 Cinq Sporting in yellow. It has been abused a bit in the past and every time I try to do some maintenance, I find most of the nuts and bolts have either has the threads stripped or have not been done up tight enough. For all the trouble this car gives me and the ridiculous amount of money keep spending on this "cheap" car, somehow it is growing on me. Many years ago I used to be a Mini fanatic and have stripped and rebuilt a few Mini engines. I always do my own maintenance as I don't trust repair shops. I am handy with a set of spanners but this car is very new to me and I have a lot to learn about it. I look forward to interacting with you all on this forum and I hope that I can help some others here as well as get some help and advice myself.

Welcome. Looking forward to reading your posts. There's a very tidy yellow Siecento lives near me and I've been trying to spot who owns it so I can say hello. It's never parked in the same place though so I've not been able to narrow it down to a particular house. Like you I used to mess about with Minis quite a bit - even owned a 1275 S for a while years ago which I did a Downton fast road conversion on. Then I got interested in Imps and that put an end to the Minis! Always thought the wee Fiats were nice though and now find myself with a Panda and a Punto to "play" with.

Hi PuggIt. Thanks for the welcome. Maybe (re: the Siecento) leave a note on the windscreen? I had 5 Mini's in the end, My fave' was a '67 mk1 850 for 150 quid (got stolen). The funniest was a yellow mk3 for 75quid that had the standard holes in the floor and a headlight held in with gaffer tape where the wing had rusted out all the way aroundthe hole! The best was a 40yr anniversary special edition (with the half leather interior) I got for 800quid. I bent that one up beyond repair with a super heavy curbing incident! I got a little over enthusiastic and lost the front end exiting (or NOT exiting) a roundabout in Poole! Those were the days, The mk1 would probably cost over 10,000 pounds these days so out of my league. Ive never liked fiats but like I said, this one is really growing on me.
(Sorry about using "quid", I live in Denmark now and my Danish keyboard has "ø" "å" and "æ" but doesn't have a pound sign!!!)

Hi and welcome, was it that big roundabout on the dual carriageway which has the boat in the middle by any chance? I no longer live near Poole either but years ago I remember driving past a lorry which had shed it's load of toilets on that roundabout, and commenting to my passenger "well at least the police have plenty to go on with that accident..."

I rather liked the Cinq Sporting (or rather Seicento Schumacher) I had as a hire car years back, great fun for such a tiny little car. Had much the same issues with bolts on my Alfas, think it's quite a common thing with Italian cars of a certain age, but normally the driving experience makes all the swearing, split knuckles and frantic searching for replacement parts worthwhile.

Not noticed any issues like that with my Abarth 500, but then they're built in Poland so maybe the people who assemble it aren't so 'creative' with their choice of nuts/bolts and how they tighten them ;)

Hi mj, thanks for the welcome.
No, not that roundabout. It was a little one at the Bournemouth end of Ashley Rd. Junction with Alder Rd and Poole Rd.
I might like the Cinq more if it was a hire car but unfortunately I can't hand it back at the end of the week, I'm stuck with it!!!! ;)
