Hi - Acceleration Issues

Hi Guys, *waves
I am new to this site and with forums in general.

Can someone please help me.
I own a 2006 Fiat Grand Punto (Punto Sport in Oz) 1.9 JTD.

My problems:
Once in a while... when I accelerate, the car doesn’t really respond regardless of what gear I am in. Even gearing down doesn’t work.

For instance, if I take off from first, it will take a good 5 sec for it to reach 2000rpm... It feel likes, the car just looses 2 cylinders or runs out of petrol... then after a few moments, its back to normal. (There's no vibration).


Once I was going 100km on the freeway and I lost power again. when I step on it, and it barely moved... Gear down to 5 & 4... same thing... I wait a few moments and it comes back to normal.

Any ideas?

Welcome to The Fiat Forum! Dont put that stuff in its no good in a diesel...

Anyhow,... try a Search for EGR or MAF in here & I'm sure you will find something that matches your symptoms.

Thanks for your reply Ffoxy, I have looked it up and it seems like it could be the issue i have been having.

... But its gone from bad to worse.


Car died on me last night. Seems like an electrical issues now. It wont start and all the electronics seems to be out of whack. even the hazzards don't go on... tried to jump start, electrics came back on but it wouldn't turn over. oh well, to the fiat shop we go. I guess i need to save up now to pay for the over priced repair on import cars we have in melbourne.

Check the battery and connections mate, esp the quick release -ve one....
