Got around to swopping my spark plugs at long last.
I think it was you Tom that pointed out to me that the figure in the code for the relevant plug was andication of the operating temperature (since i posted a question about it)

ie. Manual states 115 16V NGK BKR6
or Champion RC8
155 20V Champion RC8 only

I had bought the NGK ones, then read this in the manual (prompting me to ask the question).

Thing is (I'm just curious really - since I did go and get the Bosch super4's Tom recommended), the ones I removed happened to be the NGK BR6's too, and they're not blackened at all.

I'd been reading past threads on sparkplugs which seemed to suggest that a certain amount of black-ness was to be expected. So my question is - what indiction does this give about the running of the engine, when after probably no less than 20K, these plugs hardly had a spec on them (compared to others I've seen) ..??

Means you engine is running right
the ones you saw before were from an engine that was running rich
Tom am i right ?

Spark plug colour is really a bit meaningless, it basically indicates the last 30 seconds of the engines running as the heat burns off the deposits pretty quickly.

If they are oily and black or burnt or glazed then you have a problem. Other than that the colour is not really worth bothering with.

Was i wrong then??
No surprise there then, :)

Rab. :)
