General hgt steering wheel

i've enquired about a few hgt steering wheels on ebay, i usually get quoted £45-65, which is more than i'm willing to pay. I'd possibly pay £40 for one in excellent condition, but finding a used leather steering wheel in good condition is hard enough.

black leather, with normal plastic on airbag

abarth was same steering wheel but it had cheesy red bits on handles and at bottom.

Let me clear this up. Jug i had a Mint Leather HGT wheel for £50 you could of had ages ago, but someone else off the FF bought it from me when it was in the classifieds.

Let me get you all up to speed with the steering wheels, the HGT wheel will fit regardless of MK1 or MK2. Your problem lies with the airbag. A MK1 has a different connector for the airbag to that on the MK2. The inserts for the plug on the airbags are different aswell.

I suggest you get a MK2 HLX/HGT airbag to go with the MK1 HGT leather wheel. The easiest option would be to buy a MK2 leather HGT wheel with airbag, that'll be a perfect fit.

However i think the leather HGT wheels look crap, they wear easily and its extremely noticable, they dont match anything inside. I think the plastic airbag spoils it as its a shade different in colour. Bring me a facelifted Alfa 156 leather wheel any day. So much more sexy and cool looking.

all bravo, brava, marea, palio, punto mk1 steering wheels will fit, and i've been told an alfa 156 uses the same spline pattern on the column shaft, so the steering wheel should fit, which is my latest investigation. sei steering wheels will fit physically, but you need to chop your airbag wiring off.

true, my airbag is a mk2 and wont fit onto my connector, not that it matters in my case since the airbag is disabled.

you can join both connectors if you use 2 small lengths of wire, it would work, but its not an ideal solution.

why is your airbag diabled?:eek:

i've disabled in on the last 5 car's we've owned. mostly because i dont like the idea of having an airbag, but also because on 4 out of 5 cars (including 3 fiats) the airbag light has remained on due to faults that cant be fixed even by the dealers.

no its an SX with optional extras

Funny i never saw leather steering wheel as an optional extra at Fiat. Could be due to the fiat dealership then.

@Mountainmachine

You dont find this a sexy wheel (also found on the 147)...
