I know this has probably been discussed in loads of places already, but a while ago my injector light would come on occasionally, normally after a bit of hard driving, then it would go out, but recently it came on and has not gone out again, just on constant. Also I have a loss of power when accelerating, once the revs buid up it is ok but initially there is nothing there. Does this sound like a dead injector or just faulty wiring/connection? Does anyone have any idea of cost? I assume i will need to go to a Fiat garage and go on the diagnostic machine?
Thanks

Does it idle ok? mine wouldnt and traced it o an injector! tried turning engine with one lead off at a time and the offending cylinder was the one that made no difference, i then tried a different plug and ht lead to make sure!
new injector was £89 each but fitting them my self kept costs down.....
But if unsure best to get a diog done most mobile tuners have the gear nowadays its about £30ish which is worth it for peace of mind! :)hope it helps......justin.

Yeah the car idles ok, and drives just when you put your foot on the accelerator nothing happens and the reves build up slowly. I think as suggested I need to get it on a diagnostic machine

Consumption

Has yr consumption gone haywire?? mine nearly doubled..

Re: Consumption

can anyone tell me if this was resolved as my 155hgt did the same last night. no power for a few seconds then picked up. the warning light was on, i bought some injector cleaner an put a tank of optimax in and it appears to have corrected itself for the moment. But im concerned that an injector is damaged.

The 'injector' light DOES NOT always mean the injectors are faulty. It simply means there is a fault somewhere with the ECU, wiring, sensors or injectors. A faulty injector is just 1 of about 200-300 faults that make the light come on.

Get a diag done.

injector ahh!

i recently had exactly the same problem my injector died and it lost power! i got told what happens is it goes down to running on two or three cylinders thats why it takes a while to get going! it doesnt do your engine too much harm but over a long time will, plus it fails its MOT! i got told to get a diag but knew that it wasnt the sparks and must be the injector, and my local mechanic said it would be tricky and hed have to buy the parts from FIAT so i was looking at a 2-300 job! so as mine has a few bumps and is not in the best condition i went to a unofficial FIAT place that does spares and parts and he changed the offending injectors for £80! it started to drive great but then i noticed it still wasnt starting right! then it died and im now in limbo as i have to get it back to the garage who fixed it for him to sort out what as gone wrong!
hope that clears it up! basically mines knackered! get a diag done it only £35 but itll tell you exactly whats wrong and were!

it appears to have fixed itsself now, i put in a tank of optimax and some injector cleaner and soon after, the light went out. i gave the car a 60 mile motorway run last night and its actually running better than ever. so hopefully it was just a blockage somewhere that sorted itself.

I had this for bloody ages. Tom is quite right could loads of things or nothing - bit like mine.

Took it back to fiat for the third time and they finally diagnosed an Intermittant fault with the phase sensor itself (was doing the engine no harm, nor was it a sign of anything being wrong either - other than the sensor being faulty) £80 for new un (seems Fiats minimum charge for any small part!)
