HGT in trouble (again)

99 v reg 155HGT, 39000miles

think my clutch is starting to die. first few attempts at changing gear this morning resulted in not being able to engage 1st, 2nd and 3rd without difficulty/at all. Settled down after a few changes. Although rest of my 15 mile journey sometimes the clutch felt soft and the bite travel seems reduced.

Anyone got any other ideas?

And a rough price for a clutch change?

I also dont have a clue if the g/box oil has ever been changed.

one technician i spoke to said the clutch prob just needs adjusting.

Check the slave cyl for leaks.

Slave cylinder for what Tom? G/box or clutch?

Slave cylinder for the clutch, the clutch activation works on a similar priciple to the brakes. The clutch is hydralically operated.

But if the clutch is spongy and sometimes has a shorter ”walk”, its probably the trust bearing. But Tom will have more to say.

i'll try get a mechanic to look at it today.
