HGT Gearbox Problem

I'm wondering if there is ne1 out there who could possibly help me with a slight problem. I brought my HGT November of last year on 7000 miles...yes crazy but true! Its now on 11000 and I have noticed a noice wen engaging the gears. Its definately not the clutch its literally as you move the gear lever into gear. The noise is a sweak sound like when a pressure plate is on its way out. It occurs mainly in 1st and 2nd gear and also wen you take it out of neutral. You can also feel the noise through the gear lever.

Am I in for great expense and will a large problem occur from this?

Can anyone help or advise me please as this car is my baby?

sounds like you have squeaky gearbox syndrome - I have it on my HGT too and it's harmless - no one knows how to fix it properly either....

then again that's ONLY if it is that......

Had this on my Marea 20v which I belive has the same engine/transmission as the HGT. It was solved by the dealer, and involved them covering the joints in the gear linkage with copper grease. To do this properly you need to remove the catalyst and heat shielding to get good enough access, although I have since looked myself and it might be possible to get enough room without removal.

Do I need to take anything apart except for the the above which have been stated, i.e the gearbox?
